教育目標

1 To help students understand the social and historical background of the development of the social work theories and practice. To help students improve their ability to read, speak, listen, and write in English.

課程概述

This course is designed to study social work theories and practice through the examination and discussion of famous readings. Students in this class will be inspired and encouraged to inquire about the motivation and social background of the development of theories and practices. This approach will stimulate students to search for the reasons of social evaluations in a changing environment. They will be introduced to social and historical backgrounds related to theories and policy making. This course is conducted in English. Students are required to discuss issues in class and submit assignments in English, except some translation work. Current issues related to social work in the world, particularly in Chinese societies and in the United States will be constantly examined.
