教育目標

As a result of this course, students will: (1) Have a perception of the basic issues related with TCP/IP protocol suite, WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) and Internet operational mechanisms. (2) Have a basic concept on routing protocol, AODV (Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector, RFC 3561) in WLAN, including IEEE 802.11 Standard and relevant essential operational principles on Ad Hoc networks. (3) Establish the capability of reading RFC technical materials like RFE 3561. And also cultivate students reading capability on technical papers of related issues. (4) Explore possible research issues regarding relevant routing protocol for potential topics of their future thesis.

課程概述

This course will first introduce the overview of computer network concepts, including OSI layers, main-stream network protocols, and network simulation environments. Students will be asked to practices network topology and simulations using NS2 simulator. In the 2nd half of this course, it will focus on the design and implementation of innovative network applications related to social networks, cloud computing, and so on. Term project discussion and implementation will help students to have the experiences and capability of building a large scale internet application.
