教育目標

On compleiton of the course, students should be able to 1. demonstrate their English communication ability by using the target idioms and common expressions in oral presentations; 2. become fluent speakers of English by applying the pronunciation skills and through sufficient practice in class and ouside of class; 3. develop cross-cultural awareness through a problem solving process in situations; and 4. improve their listening ability through frequent exposure to situational conversations.

課程概述

This course is designed to help students learn the English language through meaningful context with a focus on common expressions. Throughout each lesson, students are given opportunities to be actively involved in varied activities. The students are exposed to conversational situations that serve as a basis for recognizing high-frequency idioms and expressions and oral practice for proper use of those expressions. Also other structured and communicative activities are provided for further speaking, listening and writing practice. The pronunciation section helps students improve their speaking fluency. Numererous visuals (cartoons) are provided for students using a range of learning styles. At the end of each lesson, students will be required to give an oral presentation in the form of role play or speech, which helps students to put into use the idioms and expression learned from class.
