教育目標

The course is designed to present an overview of the field of computer-assisted language learning (CALL), computer-mediated communication (CMC), and second language acquisition (SLA). In this course, the trends of CALL, CMC, and core theories of SLA will be introduced in order to equip students with the basic concepts and tools necessary for more advanced study in research related to technology and second/foreign language teaching and learning. This course will cover issues and problems in current CALL and CMC research and provide a historical framework of the development of the field. Through discussions, activities, and projects, students will critically evaluate recent CALL research, discuss issues in the current literature, develop technology-enhanced materials, and apply them to classroom teaching. By the end of the course, students should be able to: • Identify major issues in current CALL research. • Understand the relationship between CALL and SLA theories. • Discuss problems and challenges in current research and theory. • Explore CALL and its impact on language learning and teaching. • Articulate your own stand on theories of SLA (or develop your own theory) and CALL and describe the principles that will inform your future work in the field. • Develop CALL materials and integrate in a foreign language class.
