The aim of this course is to introduce to the students the notions of randomness and related issues. The classical probabilty based on counting will be studied and served as a stepping stone to the understanding of modern probability. Quantities dscribing impotant properties of distributions will be defined. Families of dstributions, both discrete and continous, will be investigted. Applications in many diverse fields will also be presentd.

本課程是第一個機率統計數理基礎課程，內容包括機率概念、隨機變數、機率分配、與期望值。本課程最主要在訓練學生把連加與積分方法，運用在計算單一或多個隨機變數時的機率和期望值的計算，並從這個過程中具體瞭解機率的本質。
