教育目標

This is a discussion-based course intended for graduate and senior-level undergraduate students. Previous coursework in animal or human physiology is required before student can take this course. The objective of this course is to introduce the basic organization, functions, and principles of investigations of the nervous system, as well as to involve students in active learning processes. Students are required to read assigned chapters before each class and participate in group discussion, which will be mediated by the instructor. Students will also be required to make a short presentation on a related topic towards the end of the semester. Students will be evaluated based on the participation in the discussion and the presentation on the self-chosen topic.

課程概述

動物的神經系統一向是科學家們汲汲於研究及解密的課題，也是生物醫學研究中快速發展的領域之一。本神經生物學專論乃是為研究生及大學部高年級所開設，以討論方式進行之課程。修習之學生須於每次上課之前自行閱讀指定之課程章節，並在課堂上參與討論。本課程將在學期中研習神經系統的構造與功能，並在細胞的層級詳細探討神經傳導物質和神經突觸在結構與功能之間的關係，神經元細胞內與細胞之間訊息傳遞的分子機制，最後在神經迴路的架構上探討神經系統如何整合及運作。此外，學生必須在期末進行一次自選主題的口頭專題報告。
