教育目標

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to: 1. Describe how entrepreneurial thinking guides small business growth from concept to realization; 2. Develop a comprehensive business plan that can be used to successfully guide the pursuit of their own business dream; and 3. Understand and interpret the basic financial statements that provide important information about the overall health and performance of a business.

課程概述

Introduction to Small Business (1) is the first half of a yearlong introduction to the essential concepts and skills that are needed to understand, grow, and manage a successful small business venture. For people who think independently and have a strong inner drive, building a small business represents the fulfillment of a dream to work for themselves while pursuing their career passions. Introduction to Small Business (1) is suitable for students who have no prior business training but are interested in getting a well-rounded introduction to the knowledge and skills that are needed to start a small business. It is also suitable for students who want to begin the journey of providing a solution for an unmet business need in society and require some guidance in how to get started towards their goals. Selected topics in this course include: the small business lifestyle; ethics and social responsibility; starting a new small business versus joining an existing business through a franchise or buyout; family businesses; business plans, marketing plans, and location plans; organizational structures; understanding financial statements; sources of funding; and forecasting the financial requirements. This course will be taught entirely in English.
