教育目標

• In spring Composition III students will use the skills practiced in the fall semester (argument, definition, cause-effect, and review) to write an academic research paper in MLA style approximately 6-7 pages long. During the semester they will learn how to come up with a good thesis statement on a topic, research relevant information for their topic, create an annotated bibliography by evaluating various resources, create a functional outline with support, write an abstract for their paper, and be able to quote and cite correctly within their paper. General Requirements: • Attendance is mandatory for both classes. If students miss more than three classes for either Composition III or Oral Training III they will fail the class. • Just showing up is not enough; students must come prepared and be ready to actively participate in the learning experience. This means students should prepare any assignments before they come to class. • There is a strict no cellphone policy in these classes. They are to be turned off and put away. If you want to use your phone you must ask permission and leave the classroom. If questions or worksheets are emailed to you, you must print them out and bring them to class on paper, do not read them off your cellphone! • Late presentations and homework will not be accepted and receive zero credit.

As this the last of the Comp/Oral series, the main aim of this semester is to give a final shape and polish the skills of the students in both writing and in speech.
