設計題目:「陽光草坪 + 路思義教堂」的四分之三 空間協奏曲 第一樂章:裝置藝術 第二樂章:路思義教堂的增建 第三樂章:住宅更新全面改建計畫“eVolo” Housing competition – Housing for the 21st Century(www.evolo-arch.com)eVolo – to study, to develop, to evolve, to fly away….. ●葉朝憲老師-A DURABLE INSTABILITY An adaptation of space Dualism has shaped Western culture since the time of Plato, through Augustine and René Descartes, up to the present day. Dualism can mean the tendency of humans to perceive and understand the world as being divided into two categories. A logical thought process inherent in the dualistic relationship is necessary to justify exploitation and oppression of THE OTHER. Therefore, to cognitively and practically adopt the mode of Western dualisms is often a dangerous and oppressive way of looking at the world.

A DURABLE INSTABILITY An adaptation of space
We are now well into the 21st Century. We can take this opportunity to step back and reassess the zeitgeist of now. This can clarify contemporary essentials of architecture and the importance of new relationships as we step into the future. One potent point of departure could be the boundaries and adaptation of space. This might include the removal of boundaries, as well as their clarification.

Any part of architecture’s inherent multiplicity of adjacencies can become a topic:

complex / simple
fake / authentic
active / passive
symbolic / pragmatic
monumental / mundane
individual / public
program / form (form / function)
physical / virtual
contemporary / classical
past / future
harmony / discord
global / local
art / architecture
natural / artificial
…………………………………………..

It might be argued that contemporary architecture is a rethinking and perhaps softening of those borders. Perhaps the oxymoron can represent a productive new paradigm. Can these binaries lead to a duality capable of blurring these boundaries? How can the unexpected interdependency of extraordinary spaces create a communal/symbiotic dialogue between adjacencies?
