教育目標

介紹輔踇、酵素、蛋白因子、核酸化學結構及生化功用。著重介紹酵素及酵素抑制劑動力學。以生物有機觀點分析醣類代謝途徑(glycolysis, tricarboxylic acid cycle)及蛋白生物合成。 Objective: To provide students with the fundamental principles of biochemistry. This course will focus on the structure, conformation, and biochemical properties of the macromolecules of life, namely, carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids. Novel findings in biochemistry will be introduced. Fall term: 1. Bioenergetic principles 2. Amino acids, peptides, and proteins: structure, conformation and biochemical properties. Ramachandran angle determination. 3. Enzymes, enzyme kinetics and catalytic mechanism of enzymes. 4. Enzyme inhibitors, kinetics and clinical uses. Spring term: 1. Vitamins and coenzymes. 2. The glycolytic pathway. 3. The tricarboxylic acid cycle. 4. Electron transport and oxidative phosphorylation. 5. b-oxidation of fatty acids. 6. Nucleic acid structure, DNA sequencing techniques. DNA-protein interactions. 7. Nucleic acid biosynthesis and protein biosynthesis
