This course aims to promote fluent and effective reading through a wide range of topics, extensive coverage of reading strategies, such as skimming, predicting, inferring, etc. It also includes a specific focus on vocabulary development. The course will engage you with different reading genres and skills for making connections from your reading to your speaking, listening, and writing. The ultimate goal is to enhance your reading interests, develop critical thinking, and provoke conversation. Peer collaboration is strongly encouraged to generate and share different ideas.
1. To improve students’ vocabulary and reading fluency.
2. To understand and use various strategies for reading.
3. To apply learned skills and strategies to four skills.
4. To develop critical and creative thinking.
