教育目標

This is a graduate seminar course, designing for the IR students to understand the fundamental rules and principles of international law(IL), and how the interplay of law and politics in IR, and thus to give students a foundationin in the main theories of IR and IL, and, moreover, to enable students to apply those theories to the study of the main empircial areas of IL. Particular emphasis will be focused on the dichotomy of national interests and international law, of the two normally to be considered incompatible and even antithetical.

課程概述

International law is defined as that body of rules or laws which is binding on states and other international persons in their mutual relations. The content of the class involves treaties, states’ rights and obligations, recognition, dispute resolution, law of the sea, and diplomacy.
