教育目標

Upon completion of this course, students should be able to: - understand the historical, social, and cultural contexts in which early British authors wrote their works (from the Middle Ages to 17th century). - understand the various influences that different European countries have on the development of early British literature. - analyze literary works and support their interpretations with appropriate textual evidence.

課程概述

British Literature I is the first part of a two�year sequence of courses consisting of British Literature I and British Literature II. British Literature I introduces students to British literature from its Anglo�Saxon origins up to and including the Enlightenment. �British Literature from approximately the age of the Industrial Revolution, i.e. the last decades of the 18th Cent., up to the modern period is studied in British Literature II.�
