教育目標

This semester, the piano literature course will include works by Romantic and Contemporary composers. It will include works by Chopin and end with late twentieth-century composers such as Frederic Rzewski. The goal of the course is to teach students to understand the basic characteristics of each composer. We will also be discussing various types of pieces. Hopefully students will gain some understanding of the main features of, for example, a Mazurka and how it differs from a Polonaise. The course will consist of a midterm examination and a final. In addition, there will be several listening quizzes at times that will be announced.
