教育目標

Upon completion of this course, students are expected to do the followings: 1. To identify and appreciate the various traditional poetic forms. 2. To understand the relationship between form and content. 3. To develop a sensibility for the English language through close reading of several significant poems in the English and American traditions of poetry. 4. To feel the connection between sound and sense by reading poems out loud.

課程概述

Selected Poetry is an elective for third- and fourth year students. This course builds on the knowledge of poetry that students obtained in Introduction to Literature 2. This course aims for an in-depth study of poetry and may focus either on the work of a particular poet who will be studied in depth or on a theme that will be worked out in studying various poems or on the relationship between poetry and other art forms.
