This is an introduction course in VLSI circuits. We will learn modern CMOS logic circuits, fabrication, and layout well as the system-level considerations. This course plans to cover silicon logic: logic design with MOSFETs, physical structure of CMOS integrated circuits, fabrication of CMOS integrated circuits, elements of physical design; the logic- electronics interface: electrical characteristics of MOSFETs, electronic analysis of CMOS logic gates, designing high-speed cMOS logic networks, advanced techniques in CMOS logic circuits; and the design of VLSI systems: VLSI clocking and system design, reliability and testing of VLSI circuits. Students are encouraged to read textbook materials in advance before attending each class and work through examples, exercises and problems after classes.
