課程概述
This course explores the ever-lasting and popular Sherlock Holmes stories. The course examines how the author, Arthur Conan Doyle, reinforced and innovated the genre of detective fiction. It studies the character types and plot design, and looks into historical context including the colonial expansion of the Empire, the impact of e/immigration, the rise of urban culture in the narratives. It also investigates Victorian values recorded in the text in relation to our contemporary world
