教育目標

This course examines novels, short fiction, nonfiction, and drama in order to more closely examine the development of Asian-American literature as a field of study. Related question pertaining to issues of ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and social class will be examined students will be required to make a brief research presentation to the class.

課程概述

What does the term “Asian-American” entail, and what does literature written by authors identified as such tell us about ethnic and cultural identities? This course examines novels, short fiction, nonfiction, and drama in order to more closely examine the development of Asian-American literature as a field of study. Related questions pertaining to issues of ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and social class will be examined. Students will be required to make a brief research presentation to the class. Assigned writing includes one shorter essay (5-7 pages) and a longer, research-based essay (15-20 pages).
