教育目標

A thesis is a comprehensive and thoroughly researched essay presented by a candidate for an academic degree as evidence of his or her knowledge of and research in a particular subject of field of study. All Majors Program students are encouraged to consider writing a senior thesis during their final year of study at Tunghai. The benefits of doing so are manifold, as a thesis can help one accomplish the following: • Increase one's expertise in a particular field. • Improve thinking, writing, and research skills. • Conclude one's studies at Tunghai on a high note. • Prepare oneself thoroughly for further study in graduate school.

A thesis is a comprehensive and thoroughly researched essay presented by a candidate for an academic degree as evidence of his or her knowledge of and research in a particular subject of field of study. All Majors Program students are encouraged to consider writing a senior thesis during their final year of study at Tunghai. The benefits of doing so are manifold, as a thesis can help one accomplish the following: Increase one's expertise in a particular field. Improve think'ing, writing, and research skills. Conclude ones studies at Tunghai on a high note. Prepare oneself thoroughly for further study in graduate school.

參考書目

A wide range of topics is available for consideration:

1. Literature: the topic could fall within the realm of comparative literature studies (e.g., an East-West topic), or the study of a national literature (e.g., British or American), or the topic could focus on the study of particular authors, genres, periods and movements, themes and motifs, literary criticism, Cultural Studies approaches to literature, etc.
2. Linguistics: sociolinguistic approaches seem to be especially relevant and were used in a successful thesis several years ago, but almost any other approach or topic could be explored.
3. Teaching English as a Foreign Language: language acquisition, teaching composition, teaching listening skills, film or television in the language classroom, etc.
4. Other topics: e.g., translation studies, feminism, intercultural communication, topics bringing together literature and other arts (film, music, etc.), and so forth.
