教育目標

On completion of this course, students should be able to 1) demonstrate a higher level of critical thinking skills through different phases of idea exchanges on high-interest topics; 2) express their opinions using the expressions highlighted in speaking tasks such as a role-play or presentation; 3) listen to and comprehend authentic aural input in daily life and 4) evaluate ideas of people with different backgrounds, personalities, and cultures and appreciate the differences among them.

課程概述

This course is designed for junior and senior students of all English proficiency levels to help them improve their language skills and critical thinking ability through evaluating their life values. Students learn to interact with others and discuss topics closely related to their lives. Conversation models and pronunciation exercises will be provided to help students to be aware of the common pronunciation errors they make. To enhance their critical thinking ability, students will work in small group to discuss problems given and come up with possible solutions. In addition, students are required to do role-play putting into practice what they learn in the class, including creating social situation connected with the unit themes and using the language expressions covered in the class. It is hoped that through sufficient language use students can acquire fluency and confidence in presenting their ideas about values in life.
