教育目標

1. Through this graduate design studio students will learn to know how to develop his or her creative and critical arguments that will nurture their future design potential that allows them to compete with others in their future career. 2. Students will get to know how to participate in an international competition and how to work with international professionals. 3. Students will learn to know how to conduct a research design project from research issues to detailed drawings of material tectonics to meet the international level of professions. Contents of this design studio include the followings: Stage I: Establishing future Social X-scape narrative through Mughal Game and Microfilm Presentation Praxis (1) Mapping current distribution patterns of Social X-scape in Taichung Down Town Centre Praxis (2) Researching narrative thematic images of Social X-scape in terms of tangible and/or intangible as well as rational versus emotional phenomena Praxis (3) Deconstructing Social X-scape of chosen urban context via playing the Mughal Game to tease out the hidden philosophical positions Praxis (4) Re-inscribing a new Social X-scape narrative thematic images from integrating the notation hardware presentation and software of poetic texts and storyboards Stage II: Proposing redevelopment schemes via Urban Parametric Diagnosis and Acupunctural Microscopic Intervention Praxis (5) Restructuring the new hybrid urban context with a well-defined socio-spatial program Praxis (6) Diagnosing spatial problems through SSA (Space Syntax Analysis) - Detecting sensitive points of urban acupuncture Praxis (7) Prioritizing of detailed design areas with regards to tectonic expression in material performance

課程概述

This is an advanced design studio for MArch II students, which will be conducted in English and consists of three parts. The first part is related to international competition projects, which normally takes place within one-month period in the beginning of the semester. The second part will be a three months design studio project, which will cover issues of digital analysis of spatial structure and social outcomes, digital design and tectonic constructions, users body experience in both macro and micro environmental levels, and finally the sustainability issue of building performance and design strategies, etc. The last part is scheduled in the last two weeks of the semester and it will be an out reach exhibition project, which will display all students’ design works from the second part of the design studio project.
