課程概述

This 3-credit elective for non-English majors is designed to: (1) improve students’ communication skills in English through activities with engaging topics, themes, and ideas related to students and their interests; (2) increase students knowledge of the English language; and (3) build students communicative and linguistic competence. Students will meet these goals by completing several meaningful tasks (these tasks include performing three oral assignments, reading and completing weekly reading assignments, passing vocabulary quizzes, debating the pros and cons of an issue, reaching a group consensus, and solving a problem) These tasks, which are designed to increase students participation and their confidence in English speaking contexts, will be performed in a supportive atmosphere that will facilitate English fluency as well as accuracy. In short, this class is designed to help students to increase their ability to apply their knowledge of the English language to effectively communicate their ideas.
