教育目標

Upon completion of this course, students are expected to do the followings: 1. Be able to identify the archetypes of various characters that appear in Western literature. 2. Be able to analyze the significance of mythological allusions used in Western literature. 3. Be able to understand the ancient Greek culture and world view that have become part of the Western civilization.

課程概述

This course introduces both Greek and Roman mythology which form the basis of Western Literature and which continue to influence modern literature. Both myths and adaptations of myths in modern form will be read and studied. Various aspects of the myths will be discussed. Students will learn to approach myths critically and at the same time strengthen their skills in reading, analyzing and discussing narratives. This elective course (2 credits) provides a basis for literature classes taken in later years. General English skills should improve as well.
