課程概述

The aim of this course will be to read representations of cities in recent American literature, film, and television as a lens through which to explore cosmopolitanism and multiculturalism as central features of cities. Students will read excerpts primarily from novels, short stories, poetry, and films. Students will learn more about how cities function as places of cultural exchange and artistic expression, as well as more particulars about diversity (whether of race, class, culture, gender, etc.) in several American megacities as examples through which to look at multiculturalism and urbanism in an ever more globalized world.
