教育目標

On completion of the course, students will be able to: 1. identify various ways that global news is spread in the 21st century; 2. research global current events and compare the ways they are explained by different news sources; 3. closely read news sources to determine biases and truth of information; and 4. write current events articles, opinion pieces, and political cartoons

課程概述

Advanced English 2 (AE 2) is an elective course for THU students whose English proficiencies have met the university’s English exit requirement. Students who wish to further strengthen their English skills or pursue higher degrees or join exchange programs abroad are strongly encouraged to take the course. It is a one semester course (0-3credits). The course aims to enhance students’ academic English. In this semester, it places more weight on reading and writing skills. Aside from academic English skills, this course will incorporate intercultural competence into the curriculum so as to broaden every student’s international perspectives and ability in culturally diverse learning contexts.
