教育目標

This course aims to prepare the student to conduct graduate-level research necessary for course work, the drafting of a thesis proposal, and the research and writing of an MA thesis in British and American Literature. Students will begin by learning how to utilize basic databases available at Tunghai University and other universities, libraries, and research centers in Taiwan. An annotated bibliography, covering essential primary and secondary sources on a given topic, will be completed by each student. Finally, students will be required to draft a preliminary thesis proposal. This proposal may differ from the actual proposal the student submits for approval, but it is hoped that the ideas generated in “Research Methods” will lead directly and organically to a completed thesis at the end of the student’s study program.-- Research skills -- Library training -- Annotated bibliography -- Oral presentation of research -- Thesis proposal
