Selected Poetry is an elective for 2nd-4th year students. This course builds on the knowledge of poetry that students obtained in Introduction to Literature 2. This course aims for an in-depth study of contemporary and some classic poetry. Three poems will be introduced each week, often on a common theme. These poems will be read and discussed in depth, in small groups as well as with the entire class. There will be a midterm and final exam based entirely on these poems. Each student will write one short explication of a poem or a comparison of two poems. This paper should be about 2-5 pages in length.
