教育目標

The main goals of this course are to 1) develop students’ knowledge and understanding of the highly complex issues surrounding water and its availability, uses, governance and management on a national and global scale; 2) develop students’ knowledge and understanding of the extent and problems of water pollution 3) provide students with the complete overview of currently available sustainable, innovative technologies and solutions for mitigation of some of the major pollutants; 3) provide students with the overview of rain harvesting and water conservation systems and techniques and 4) develop students’ knowledge and understanding of conventional methods for water treatment Topics in this course include: 1) Global Water Issues (e.g. water availability, water pollution, geopolitics, effects of climate change, aquaculture production facilities). 2) Innovative sustainable eco-technologies for water pollution mitigation (focusing on nutrients, pathogens, emerging contaminants treatment, heavy metals and microplastics). 3) Water/Energy Nexus (water use for energy production; risks, challenges and opportunities in the water/energy relationship). 4) Drought management 5) Water governance and policy issues
