This course provides an in-depth exploration of various African music genres, including traditional, popular, and contemporary forms. Students will discover the historical, cultural, and social contexts that shape the development and evolution of African musical traditions. Through a combination of lectures, listening exercises and discussions, students will gain a nuanced understanding of the unique musical landscapes across different regions of Africa
