教育目標

While this course will certainly involve learning about the ideas of various philosophers, it is not simply a rote-learning course in which the goal is to memorize information. Instead, the focus is on developing certain skills and practices, particularly thinking skills. In this course, students are expected to actively engage with the material, develop their own views on the topics, and defend those views through careful argument and analysis. This means that the course is not just about learning a body of knowledge, but about developing the ability to think carefully about concepts, ideas, and arguments. This requires practice, and there are no shortcuts to developing these skills. Just like with any other skill, such as playing sports, music, or learning a language, the only way to improve is through practice. Therefore, I do not simply care about your ability to repeat things that I or other philosophers have said or written. Instead, I am interested in your ability to think critically and creatively about the topics we are discussing, and to express your own ideas and arguments clearly and persuasively. By engaging in this process, you will not only learn about the ideas of others, but also develop your own intellectual abilities and practices. *國際學院辦理Mini-semester program,此門課程僅開設14週,每週上課4小時,共14週。4*14=56小時。符合1學分則需上滿分18小時之要求
