教育目標

At the conclusion of the course, students will be able to 1. Gain comprehension on the musical elements, medium, genres, forms, and representative composers and compositions from the Western, Chinese, and Taiwanese music 2. Recognize the Chinese/Taiwanese traditional instruments and their corresponding instrumental families, such as strings, winds, percussions instruments. 3. Acquire knowledge on the representative traditional Taiwanese performing arts and literature, such as Beiguan (北管), Nanguan (南管), Taiwanese Opera (歌仔戲), and Glove Puppetry (布袋戲)。 4. Analyze the similarities and differences of the Chinese, Taiwanese, and Western music styles, aesthetics, concepts, and approaches on relatable musical topics. 5. Identify the cross-referenced process of transformation and adaptations of the selective Chinese and Taiwanese repertoire that were influenced by the Western music. 6. Describe the associated and projected moods, expressions, and meanings that are portrayed in the Chinese and Taiwanese musical literature.
