教育目標

Course Description: This 2-credit course is designed to enhance students' English oral proficiency, speaking confidence, and "real-world" vocabulary through a variety of dialogues from popular television and film scenes. Students will explore authentic language usage through a combination of dialogue scenes, multimedia, and instructor-guided activities. They will expand their vocabulary and learn common everyday idiomatic and slang expressions. The course will enhance their listening comprehension skills and improve their speaking and pronunciation abilities. Students will also gain cultural insights and awareness of social etiquette and contextual factors for language usage. The purpose of this course is for students to learn language for practical application in various life scenarios. These include social interactions between friends, professional interactions in the workplace, and other common situations found in daily life. Class materials will consist of excerpts from a variety of shows provided by the instructor. Course Objectives: On completion of the course, students will be able to 1. Understand authentic language learned from dialogue examples. This includes identifying vocabulary, idiomatic and slang expressions, and linguistic nuances within cultural and situational contexts. 2. Apply these expressions in their own communication. 3. Improve speaking and pronunciation skills. 4. Develop confidence with English language usage in conversation, discussion, and presentation. 5. Analyze listening comprehension skills. This includes exposure to various regional accents, intonations, and speech patterns from real-world contexts as presented in television and film dialogues. 6. Evaluate cultural and social contexts that influence language usage in a variety of formal and informal settings.
