教育目標

This Seminar is designed to give the student knowledge about the major trends in the 20th Century vis-à-vis the major writings of T.S. Eliot. The 20th Century heralded many new concepts in the history of ideas, particularly in the fields of science, social-anthropology, and medicine and these ides were adapted into the writing of modern poetry, drama, and literary criticism. T.S. Eliot stood at the centre of this activity producing one of the most spectacular range of poetry, drama, and literary criticism from what we called his “workshop” and these stand at the very core of what we term “modern.” Moreover, is interesting and informative that Eliot’s writings were to herald the changes in the way that literature as a whole was to develop further in the century. While reading the selected works of T.S. Eliot, we will explore the intellectual developments of the 20th century as a whole.
