This theme-based course is designed to help students to build up their English communicative competence—the ability of communicating with others in English, to assist them to develop warm manners and positive attitudes towards English learning, to expose them to cross-cultural concepts, to motivate them to learn about others and express themselves, and to train them to make English become part of their lives. American customs, traditions and celebrations are emphasized in the course. The Book of Rhymes and Rhythms is used to work on pronunciation.
