This course introduces students to the analysis and design of computer architectures. Upon completion of this course, students will be able to do the following:
1 Understand computer abstractions and technology
2 Understand computer arithmetic
3 Understand and assess computer performance
4 Understand the components of processor
5 Understand how to Enhancing performance with pipelining
6 Understand Cache, Main Memory hierarchy
7 Understand RAID Storage, networks and other peripherals
8 Understand shared-memory multiprocessors and distributed memory clusters
Computer architecture and organization has been updated throughout to address the most important trends facing computer designers in modern times. This course is aimed at teaching the fundamentals of the computer architecture and organization. The lecture part will teach students how to design a processor from the hardware and software view. They have illustrated the principles with designs from these domains, including Computer Abstractions and Technology, Instructions: Language of the Computer, Arithmetic for Computers, The Processor, Large and Fast: Exploiting Memory Hierarchy, Storage, Networks and Other Peripherals, Multiprocessors and Clusters, and high performance computing.
