On completion of the course, students should be able to
a) understand the multiple nuances of English language, for example, images, irony, symbols, syntax, etc. through reading western literature;
b) increase their oral ability through intensive class discussion on ideas related to the works we read; and
c) analyze and interpret western literature in a meaningful and significant way.
課程概述
The course consists of a brief introduction to various elements of fiction and poetry, and a close reading of the selected material. The chosen material will 1) be suitable for non-majors English level, 2) offer topics for discussion, and 3) contain words which illustrate different nuances of English language used in different contexts. The class includes lectures and group discussions in English.
