課程概述

Students will read some of the best known narratives of the Old and New Testament of the Bible, using English as a medium to discuss the plot, character development and the cultural background of the stories. Students will devote a lot of time to the stories of Genesis and Exodus and to other short stories such as Samson, Jonah and Ruth. Students will also read the Gospel of Luke in order to gain an understanding of the life of Jesus and of his parables that are familiar to most westerners. Students will participate in teacher- and student-led class discussions; they will also be given quizzes to test their overall knowledge of the stories and to stimulate progress in their reading. In class, they will also view film clips of scenes from the stories they have read in order to gain a visual perspective on the times and customs of the Biblical world.
