教育目標

On completion of the course, students should be able to 1. have built a larger vacabulary and improved their listening comprehension; 2. communicate with people using more useful phrases and expressions; 3. gain a better undrerstanding of Western culture and lifestyle; 4. learn to approch English in an engaging and meaningful way; and 5. have become independent thinkers through activities that require reflection and collaboration.

課程概述

This three-credit course is learner-centered and its purpose is to help students to develop both their critical thinking and English skills through TV episodes from different TV programs such as Friends. Every week students view an episode from an American TV drama or comedy and record words or phrases that draw their attention, some of which will be studied later during an entire class discussion. Finally, meaningful issues that students have found will be brought up for reflection.
