Research Methods is a second-year required course. By the end of this course, students should be able to 1) find materials through academic sources such as the library and online databases, 2) evaluate the quality of materials they find, 3) follow academic citation conventions when using information from those materials in their own assignments, and 4) understand the concept of academic integrity and the importance of avoiding plagiarism.
By the end of the course, you should be able to a) conduct an academic research on a topic, b) present your academic research and argument, c) cite your sources correctly in MLA style, and d) avoid plagiarism in any way.The core of this course will focus on guiding students to employ citation in correct MLA style, develop academic writing skills, conduct an academic research in small groups, and present the group research.
