教育目標

主要課題包括：分析哲學的方法與應用、羅素的「確定描述辭理論」、維根斯坦前期的「圖像理論」到後期「語言遊戲」說之轉變、卡納普與波柏爾對科學證明的爭論 (關鍵概念：檢證、印證、可否證性)、奎因的「存有承諾」說、克里普克的「命名與必然」理論、普特南的「桶中之腦」的思想實驗、戴維森的「真理與詮釋」理論、瑟爾的「中文房間」的思想實驗。 The main topics include: the methods of analytic philosophy and its application, Bertrand Russell’s “theory of definite descriptions,” Ludwig Wittgenstein’s “picture theory” and thesis of “language games,” Rudolf Carnap and Karl Popper’s debate on scientific justification (key concepts: verification, confirmation and falsifiability), W. V. Quine’s view of “ontological commitment,” Saul Kripke’s theory of “naming and necessity,” Hilary Putnam’s thought experiment of “brains in a vat,” Donald Davidson’s theory of “truth and interpretation,” and John Searle’s thought experiment of “Chinese room.”
