教育目標

Joking Around 西洋哈哈鏡 The course is designed to improve listening and speaking skills through selected jokes so as to decrease anxiety and boost self-confidence. People from different cultures often respond to jokes differently. Besides savoring the humor from different cultures, students are expected to develop their language skills. 別人聽懂笑話,你呆若木雞,尷尬嗎?聽懂英文笑話,不但要聽力好,還要抓到文化脈絡下的笑點。不同的文化背景,對同一個笑話的反應不同。本課程選用Just Joking 文本,搭配網路笑話,讓學生輕鬆領略幽默的同時,還能提升聽講能力。學期結束後,學生不但聽得懂,也能講得出讓人捧腹的笑話。

課程概述

「大二英文」為「大一英文」之延伸課程。本課程將以25人小班制進行模組化之英語教學,實踐以學習者為中心之教學理念,針對學生個人學習興趣及相關系所之專業需求,開設四大模組課程,分別為「多元文化」、「簡報與演說」、「職涯與專業」以及「日常溝通」。所有的模組課程均以學期為單位,學生於上、下學期可針對個人學習需求選擇不同的模組課程。四大模組課程分別由具有共同核心目標但涵蓋不同主題之課程所建構而成。結合討論、展演、競賽及實作等各類學習方式與活動,期待學生能在更多元、自主的學習語境中,具體強化其英語文溝通能力。 本課程屬於「多元文化」模組,因應全球化時代的來臨與多元語境融入英語學習的新趨勢,引導學生在學習英文的過程中,體驗不同文化現象,培養多元視角之世界觀,進而完備其成為世界公民之基本素養。 The SENM program, an extension program of the FENM program, is a student-centered course focusing on students′ learning needs and interests. The course design features a small-class (no more than 25 students) learning and four modules. These four modules are: Multiculturalism, Presentation and Public Speaking, Career and Profession, and Daily Communication. All modular courses are semester-based; so each SENM student can choose two different modules according to their individual learning needs in one academic year. Within each module, there are different sub-themes, or topics, around which the course curriculum is built. Various class activities such as discussions, exhibitions, competitions, and presentations are incorporated to strengthen students′ English competence. This specific course belongs to the Module of Multiculturalism. This module provides students with opportunities to experience different cultural phenomena. It helps students to cultivate multiple global perspectives and to prepare them to be global citizens. Course Objectives: On completion of the course, students should be able to 1) provide real-life examples of social and cultural diversity; 2) demonstrate their multicultural awareness and appreciation; 3) use idiomatic expressions acquired in the course; and 4) express their opinions on diversity issues more confidently.
