教育目標

1. Learning how to make videos where students communicate successfully a subject of their interest. 2. Enhancing the student’s communication skills through the practice of vlogging. 3. Giving students the possibility to improve their speaking skills in a foreign language through vlogging.

課程概述

This course aims to enhance students’ communication skills through the practice of video blogging or vlogging. Every week, some theoretical issues will be addressed, followed by a critical review of existing videos. In the first week, students will decide on a subject of their interest and will be able to produce short videos (in the form of vlog entries) to put in practice the contents studied in class. The course assessments will be partially theoretical and partially practical: on the one hand, students will make a short mid-term and final test, and in the other hand they will produce a video for the mid-term assessment and another one for the final assessment.The subjects developed in class will include the following ones: • Vlogging, broadcasting, podcasting, creating video content or starting a Youtube channel? • The dream of being a youtuber: goals, reasons and typology. Focused vs. specific content. • Broadcasting and marketing. • Fears, dangers and difficulties in creating video content: digital self-harm, long term results, etc. • Developing video content: getting inspiration, choosing a topic, becoming an expert, being interesting, online persona and presence, niche, consistency, authenticity vs. character creation, collaborations, etc. • Materials: hardware (mobile phone, camera, microphone, tripod, lighting, etc.) and software (Vegas pro, Premiere pro) • Delivery issues: video structure, periodicity, SEO, thumbnail design, linking to social media, etc. • Video edition tools.
