Economics is the social science that studies the choices that individuals, businesses, governments, and entire societies make as they cope with scarcity and the incentives that influence and reconcile those choices.
The instructor will utilize lectures, discussions, and assignments to help students develop an understanding of the principles of economics and the applications to the issues around the world. Topics covered in this semester include: Economic Methods and Economic Questions Optimization: Doing the Best You Can Demand, Supply, and Equilibrium Consumers and Incentives Sellers and Incentives Perfect Competition and the Invisible Hand Trade Markets for Factors of Production Monopoly Game Theory and Strategic Play Oligopoly and Monopolistic Competition
