Course Objectives
1. A heightened awareness of practical and ethical issues in doing second language research
2. An understanding of major research perspectives, important principles for research design, and commonly used research methodologies
3. The ability to effectively and properly carry out library and internet-based research
4. The ability to select an appropriate research topic, to formulate researchable questions, and to write a research proposal
5. A working knowledge of essential research tools for investigating topics and questions
6. Skills for collecting, compiling, and analyzing different types of research data
7. The ability to write term papers and research reports in APA style
8. The ability to constructively criticize the methods of quantitative and qualitative research methods used in published studies
