If the class size is too large, or impossible to alternate attendance, the class may be held online with the consent of the teacher and students, provided that the quality of online instruction and related teaching and learning records are maintained. If the epidemic alert is lowered, classes should resume physical classroom.
|Context and Relevance||10||How well do you define your specific challenge/problem?|
|Biomimicry Process||15||How well do you demonstrate (rapid prototyping) and document an understanding of function and biological strategies?|
|Urban Design Process||15||How well do you demonstrate (translate) and document an understanding of biological strategies into urban design strategies?|
|Creativity||10||How novel is the design innovation and/or biological inspiration for future earth or interplanetary inhabitations?|
|Feasibility||15||Does your design concept represent a promising future design or technology advancement in design, and/or design solutions to defined problems for future earth? (i.e. show evidence of DFTs and future design applications))|

The studio emphasis on combined individual and team efforts for introducing advanced design methods in multi-disciplinary and inter-disciplinary scenarios that enable students to carry out artifactual, architecture, urban, regions, cross borders, global and extraterrestrial (interplanetary) problem solving. Main objective is to stay connected to all living inhabitants’ needs and providing design innovation relevant to the dynamics of changing globe for design profession.
Students are expected to propose game-changing and feasible schemes as references for future architectural and urban design. Design team(s) are to create transient conditions conducive to life (on Earth and future design that supports for interplanetary conditions). Two design tasks are to be completed in the duration of First Semester and Winter Semester. This year, specific learning objectives are selected and aligned to the Regenerative Earth and Anthropocene Design Lab (READ LAB), which include the followings:
Create a nature-inspired innovation (a product/artefact/installation, an architecture or groups of architecture, urban and spatial service, or design system in any scale) that combats climate change to:
1. Safeguarding Future Earth; and
2. Preparing for Interplanetary (Moon and Mars) Design Experimentation and Scientific Conceptual Design and Development.
TBA (Continuous readings and references to be distributed also during studio session by weekly)
