教育目標

Thanks to this course, students can acquire a deeper language proficiency and a solid knowledge of Hispanic culture and be prepared to understand, comment and produce authentic documents from Spain and Latin-American countries. Therefore, after this course, students can dispose of a powerful tool that will prepare them for a successful position in the labor market. Having linguistic and cultural competence in Spanish, the second most spoken language of the world and fourth most used in the internet, constitutes an evident advantage for the student's future career. If in addition to this, students are already proficient in two other languages, they can benefit from a multilingual and multicultural background that will undoubtedly be precious in a number of work domains, specially those oriented towards international trade, communication and services. Besides, thanks to the growing importance of Spanish in business and culture in the world in general, and in the United States in particular (with more than 40 million speakers of Spanish), students having studied this subject will count with a concrete asset for their career.

This course will be articulated by a variety of authentic documents that will help to develop and reinforce language skills, while presenting particularities of Hispanic civilization, and specific cultural aspects. These materials will have the form of songs, film fragments and short fiction texts.
