本課程關注於政治與經濟因素之間的交互作用，是如何影響國家的出現、政策的制定、政體的變遷、經濟發展、國際衝突、內戰等等。 學期初期會先著重於政治學研究方法上的介紹，爾後再進入各大主題，希望同學在修習這門課程之後，能夠對政治經濟學有更全面性的了解，並且能對現實政策發展批判性的觀點。
