教育目標

Students in this course will -Master academic writing skills for this course and future courses, including: scholarly re-search, quotation integration, citations, structure, rhetoric (ethos, logos, pathos, kairos), argument, thesis development, MLA formatting, and a clear and complete understanding of plagiarism and its seriousness. -Demonstrate the foundations of contemporary food writing, including: narrative writing, reporting, and conducting interviews in the form of restaurant reviews, profiles, personal essays, and researched features. -Expand their understanding of how food and writing are tools for sharing, celebrating, dissecting, and understanding personal and cultural identity. -Embrace that-like a recipe or identity exploration-writing is a process, including brainstorming, outlining, organizing, workshopping, peer review, proofreading, and most importantly, revising and rewriting. -Produce a 250-word restaurant review using narrative techniques, a 500-word profile us-ing an interview and quotation integration, a 750-word personal essay exploring their identity, and a 1000-word researched feature including at least three scholarly sources.
