In this course, we introduce you to the principles of macroeconomics, the study of the aggregate effects on the national economy and the global economy of the choices that individuals, businesses, and governments make. In specific, macroeconomics analyzes aggregate measures in evaluating the performance of the economy, such as national income, national output, unemployment and inflation rates, and business cycle fluctuations. In this course, we prompt you to think like an economist about the national and global issues we face, consider competing views, and draw conclusions from various perspectives, tools, and alternatives. This course covers the following topics: * Macroeconomic Goals, Measures, and Challenges * Unemployment, Inflation, and Economic Growth * Aggregate Economic Activities and Fluctuations * Money and the Monetary System * Fiscal Policy and Monetary Policy * Exchange Rate and the Global Economy After successful completion of this course, students will be able to (1) define and discuss key terminology of the macro economy, (2) describe and discuss standard theories of long-run and short-run macroeconomics, (3) discuss the impacts of fiscal and monetary policies using verbal, graphical and simple mathematical techniques.
