教育目標

As the water supply and sanitation sectors continue to face increasing pressures, especially due to the impacts of climate change, governments across the world will need to increase the sector’s resilience and sustainability. Innovation and technology are crucial in finding solutions for scarcity and safety, water efficiency, utility operations, monitoring and treatment and floods management. New water technologies can enable greater levels of economically affordable conservation and increase productivity of available water sources through increased efficiency, reducing overall demand for water. The aim of this course would be to provide students with an overview of water innovation in the context of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Topics in this course include: 1) Water-related challenges related to scarcity, quality and the allocation of water (e.g. water availability, water pollution, geopolitics, effects of climate change, aquaculture production facilities). 2) Innovative sustainable eco-technologies for water pollution control 3) Overcoming barriers to innovation 4) Water infrastructure (natural and man-made) for the management of the resource as well as for the provision of water-related services, including the management of floods and droughts 5) Water governance and policy issues
